"The Volkswagon Illusionist"

These are the guys that are just on a slightly less practical level than the practical magician. Every "Mini - Illusion" they perform has to break down and pack flat enough that it would fit in the trunk of their car. Most of these illusions have been being performed for a hundred years or more and they may be great for beginners and "Practical" for getting in and out of a performance quickly, but could not be farther away from being cutting edge.

Aedryan has designed a couple of modern "Grand Illusionettes", which he will perform in some of the different cabaret show packages he offers. They are even a bit sizable, but they are not sold as feature illusions in either of his illusion show packages. The last thing you want to see at your event, after paying good money for a great illusion show is some washed up, old assistant jumping in a basket and having 3 unimpressive swords shoved in it!

"The Trendy Illusionist"

The internet is full of these illusionists. The trendy illusionist in most cases, does have a nice looking show. The problem is that they are all exactly alike, in that they all perform the same, "whatever is currently hip" commercial illusions. These illusions are just as over - done as they are expensive and where the trendy illusionist lacks in originality and creativity, he makes up for with money. Believe it or not, in a lot of cases the trendy illusionist doesn't even own his illusions. He will rent or borrow them from other illusionists or a supplier. There is a problem with this. The illusions are not kept close to the performers heart, in that they may only have them for a short time, so they are routined very basic and straight forward. In other words, the illusionist does not have the time to make them "special". Another problem is, many illusionists keep the choreography as simple and straight forward as possible for their illusion routines. They wheel the girl out on the prop, she gets in, the magic happens, she gets out and takes a bow.

A lot of mega illusions are so big, outrageous and futuristic that they become one dimensional and un-entertaining. A lot of MEGA illusionists in the United States, are either based in Las Vegas, where they perform nothing BUT illusions in a review show or they perform overseas in silent acts where they either do not even speak or they do so with translators.

Illusions and MEGA illusions are fantastic! They are in fact, Aedryan's greatest love. But, without the ability to entertain with interactive, audience participation magic and comedy in between presenting illusions, it is impossible to truely connect with the audience or make them part of the show.
